DIM (diindolylmethane as Ceti VI ) is a byproduct of I3C (indole-3-carbinol), a compound found in broccoli, cabbage, and cruciferous vegetables. Both DIM and I3C are dietary indoles, which support the normal processing of estrogen metabolites.

I3-6 is used to broaden the estrogen detoxification metabolites. I3C provides DIM along with indole carbazole (ICZ) and 5,11-dihydroindolocarbozole (DICD). This diversity allows I3C to activate additional estrogen detoxification pathways beyond just DIM.(2)
